Sunburn Festival, a name synonymous with electronic dance music (EDM) in India, has long been a fixture of Goa's vibrant party scene. However, for its upcoming 2025 edition, the festival is making a significant move, relocating from its traditional home in Goa to the bustling metropolis of Mumbai.

This shift has been a hot topic among music fans and industry insiders, raising questions about what the festival is and why it's changing its address.

What is Sunburn Festival?

Sunburn is Asia's largest and most prominent EDM festival. Launched in 2007, it quickly established itself as a world-class music event, attracting thousands of music lovers from across India and beyond. Over the years, Sunburn has hosted a stellar lineup of international and homegrown DJs, including some of the biggest names in the industry like Swedish House Mafia, Martin Garrix, Tiësto, and David Guetta.

More than just a music festival, Sunburn is an aspirational lifestyle brand that has been a pioneer in music tourism in India. The multi-day event features multiple stages with a variety of artists performing simultaneously, all set against a backdrop of elaborate light shows, cutting-edge visuals, and immersive experiences.

Why the Move to Mumbai?

After a long run in Goa, the decision to move the flagship festival to Mumbai for the first time is a significant one. The organizers have cited a combination of "logistical, infrastructural, and regulatory factors" as the primary reasons for the change.
